Memories

Making Memories: with God

It was a quiet afternoon. The sun filtered gently through the leaves outside, casting a tapestry of golden light on my living room floor. As I sat on my favorite chair, a faded journal open in my lap, pen poised but unmoving. My heart felt heavy, burdened by worries, and my mind was crowded with thoughts of deadlines, bills, and family troubles.

“I wish I had more good memories,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I wish I could remember happier times.”

Suddenly, a gentle warmth enveloped me, as if someone had draped a comforting blanket over my shoulders.

God said softly, His eyes full of understanding, “why do you wish for memories when you can make new ones?”

I blinked, unsure if I was dreaming. “I feel like I’ve lost so many moments, Lord. Life is rushing by, and I’m just… tired.”

God smiled, and in an instant the room changed. I saw myself as a child, running barefoot in the outside, laughing as my mother chased her with a water hose. I saw myself at my graduation, my husband’s proud embrace. I saw quiet evenings reading, joyful dinners with friends, and even the simple act of watching the sunset while fishing.

“These moments are your gifts,” God said. “But the greatest gift is now. Every breath you take is an opportunity to make a memory—with Me.”

My eyes filled with tears, not of sadness but gratitude. “How do I do that, Lord?”

“Invite Me into your day,” God answered. “Talk to Me. Walk with Me. Notice the beauty around you. When you share your joys and sorrows, you make a memory with Me. When you love others, you make a memory with Me. When you pause to give thanks, you make a memory with Me.”

The warmth faded, and I found myself alone again. But my heart was lighter. I picked up my pen and began to write—not about the past, but about the present. I wrote about the light, the quiet, the love I felt, and my conversation with God.

And from that day forward, I choose to made memories—with God—in every moment I will remember to invite Him in.

Summary:

Memories are not just moments from the past. They are created every day when you walk with God, invite Him into your life, and cherish the present.
